Getting Noticed
Great content can only have an impact if it’s seen. So how can we ensure all content hits the mark?
A successful blog post needs to appeal to - and resonate with - the audience while also aligning with the product or service being offered. The topics to base posts on can be sourced through some savvy research and considered questioning.
-
What are current issues or pain points in the sector relating to your business’ field?
-
How does the service/product solve a problem?
-
How relevant is the service/product right now?
-
What are the key issues that are currently holding clients back from investing in the service/product?
As well as conducting specific market research, we can often find answers to these questions through social media group chats, online forums, education news articles, other blog posts (your own or your competitors’) and the subsequent responses/comments.
An audit of your current content will also reveal popular topics. Analysing traffic using your URL will reveal popular content and can also be used to check competitors’ popular content. Searching specific keywords will reveal content that is performing well, too, in terms of backlinks to the URL and the number of social shares.
Your customer service team can also provide valuable insights into pain points and questions that customers frequently ask; this is knowledge that can lead to the creation of some engaging, useful content.
Researching for content ideas should also include sourcing valuable data and statistics. This lends authority to content and helps build trust with the reader.
All this research will dictate the selection of keywords. Keywords and key terms are essential for effective search engine optimisation (SEO) to get your content to appear in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS). Which terms you choose to use, where they are placed within the content and how often will all impact on organic traffic rates.
